Summary:
Over the past year, Seagull Services has worked to provide as many different programs as feasible while keeping our participants and employees healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seagull’s protocol system developed late last year in the wake of rising case numbers has been recognized as a model system by the state Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). Seagull CEO Dan Stanislawczyk has been asked to present the model to other area nonprofit leaders.
“I developed the protocol system as we saw rising numbers of COVID cases last fall. This was done in coordination with the Palm Beach County Health Department, School District, physicians and state agencies. It lets each member of our team know their roles and responsibilities for each protocol,” Stanislawzcyk said. “We’re very proud that our system has been recognized as a model that other agencies could use as well.” more…

Summary:
Seagull Services is launching a new training opportunity in connection with its Supported Employment program to train people for work in the banquet industry.
Students are learning how to prepare tables for banquets and other food service settings to better prepare them for potential employment in the culinary and banquet industry. It’s one of three new training opportunities that Seagull Services is offering its Supported Employment participants.
Seagull has partnered with Johnson & Wales University, one of the premier culinary training programs in the nation, to provide training and evaluation of the students’ work. Jim M. Flader, M.Ed., CHE, WSET, CSW, CDRA, Assistant Professor of the College of Food, Innovation and Technology, will be participating in an online session to work with the students as they master three types of table settings: basic, casual and formal. more…

Summary:
Meet Olivia Morris, Ed.S., Director of Supported Employment at Seagull Services. She joined the staff two years ago.
Ms. Morris is a former administrator at Palm Beach State College, Miami Dade College, and Sylvan Learning Center. Her educational background includes a bachelor of science degree from Florida State University, master’s in Educational Leadership and an Educational Specialist degree with a concentration in Adult and Community Education from Florida Atlantic University.
Under her leadership, Seagull’s Supported Employment program has been formalized with a curriculum that combines the necessary job-seeking and life skills as well as career exploration through site visits and internships. The best part, she says, is creating a positive learning environment where our students and clients can learn life and employability skills to help them transition into independence. more…
