Seagull Services began 2020 with a celebration. The 2020 Chef Event held on Feb. 13 celebrated the lives of its program participants and how Seagull had helped them advance.

Guests had the privilege of hearing firsthand from students, adults, and family members how the agency had made a difference in their lives.

“Seagull was a Godsend,” said Jim Weber, whose son Zachary graduated from Seagull’s charter School, Seagull Academy for Independent Living. “They challenge the kids, but they love the kids. If you ever have an opportunity to spend time and go see the kids at the school, they would open your eyes. Some people just look the other way. They don’t know how to deal with it. But if you open your eyes, you’ll open your heart.”

The 10th anniversary of the signature fundraising event was event held at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan and raised more than $50,000 for the vocational and educational programs of Seagull Services. Featuring a dessert demonstration, raffles and a live auction, it was the most successful in the event’s 10-year history.

Gardens Wealth Management was presenting sponsor for the event. Other event sponsors were Publix Supermarkets Charities, the McCarty Cheney Foundation, The Jorgensen Foundation, Comerica Bank, FPL, Essential Air Care, Gulfstream Insurance Group, Rybovich Boat Company LLC, and Mickey Nolen, President of Nozzle Nolen, Inc.
